If you're learning Visual C++, you have two options:
1. If you're in college, ask your faculty if your college has an affiliation with Microsoft. Most Colleges do. In that case, your college will provide Visual Studio for free, legally.
2. Another free alternative is here:

It's not version 6.0, but should solve your purpose.
